Hello everyone. I'm just curious in my head (its always buzzing and swirling with questions  :D), how do you actually rate your own reviews, be it on casinos or games? Never mind the hows and the whys Askgamblers and all the other Casino Forums do theirs, that's not for us to know or be concerned about. Each one differs in their opinions and ratings.

As for me, I try to be the Judge and the Juror in my reviews, always. Innocent until proven guilty. Play clean don't play dirty. Good game or simply filthy! "Eh? Why you looking at me?!"  :D  I'm no 'Judge Dredge'...but just read my thread...  ;)

Here's how I rate my reviews. It can apply for games as well as for casinos. For those who already have their own style of rating, please share your ideas, so that all of us can see the differences and possibly come to a solution - for a better and consistent rating system. I would always start my rating with the full 10 stars, the highest possible rating, and then rate on the various aspects of the game or casino, like this (for game review):

  • The Graphics and sound: relating directly to the standard of the graphics, background music and the sound effects of the game, including 3D rendition or without; 1 star up - excellent quality, astonishing 3D graphics; No star up/down - very good quality, as expected; 1 star down - below expectation, quality average or not good; 2 stars down - bad overall quality of graphics and/or sound.
  • The Paytable: relating to the overall win values for each symbol, including win values for Wilds and Scatters if any; 1 star up - higher than usual win values; No star up/down - good win values, as can be expected; 1 star down - below expectation or average win values; 2 stars down - very low win values (highest paying symbol paying only 500x line bet and below).
  • The Features: relating to the number of special features offered by the game, the more features the better; 1 star up - excellent features, free spins, bonus games, randomly activated wins, etc; No star up/down - Nothing new or additional than the standard features that can be expected; 1 star down - below expectation, only 1 or 2 features available in the game; 2 stars down - No special features being offered other than a straight game.
  • The Game Play: relating to how the game plays with real money (fun play not counted); 1 star up - excellent game play with frequent payouts, good wins and feature games triggering; No star up/down - reasonably good and satisfying game play, with regular payouts and average wins; 1 star down - below expectation game play, with few payouts and lots of empty spins; 2 stars down - bad overall game play, hardly any payouts, credits just go down the drain.
  • The Overall Experience: whether you enjoyed playing the game or otherwise, whether won or lost; 1 star up - thoroughly enjoyed the game and payouts, made a win/s; No star up/down - satisfying game play, won some lost some; 1 star down - satisfying game play but made no wins, or just losses; 2 stars down - bad overall experience, wouldn't want to play the game anymore.

Care to share your ideas please?  :hi:

i simply do not care about graph or sounds, this all does not matter. For me very important is potential to hit big, variance of the game(higher is better), and features in this game. If features is great and variance is high, most likely it will be 9-10 stars from me.

Thanks for your input Yapro!  ^_^

It's good to know how someone else plays and then rate the game. Each of us have different likes and dislikes, so no ratings can be the same, or on the same basis either. For another person, he/she plays the game, doesn't get any free spins, bad payouts, so his/her rating will definitely be on the low side, perhaps 5 stars and below. A "stupid game" to one person may even be a "super game" to another!  B)

How anyone rates a game is their own privilege and prerogative. There are no wrongs, there are no rights either. Here, we just want to share each other's ideas, that's all!  ;)

"Whaaaat? You cannot be serious???!!!"  :D Hahahaha.

Right now, you may not know what to say Yapro, but soon enough, as others start to give inputs, or when your mind clears up a bit, you'll have plenty to say!  ^_^  And I'll be right here listening, whenever I can. :D

Suppose that my rating system is quite simple actually. There is only one major value in my 'equation' and it is called 'winning potential'! ;) Give me a video slot capable to produce winnings in excess of 2000-3000 x bet and there you go, you have just found my next favorite game. :D It is all about the money after all and if I want a game with good graphics and sound, I 'll most probably play video games not video slots.

Hehehe. I guess there are many here who would use the same basis for rating a game.  ^_^

But tell me, how would you rate huge winning potential games like jackpot games, like the ones from Microgaming and Marvel Heroes? Would they be rated the same as, say Dead or Alive, or you'd rate them differently?

And how about games that do not have high winning potentials? Would you rate them on comparison basis to one of your favourites or there's some other basis?

Or just give them some stars!  :p  :p

Well, if a video slot with good winning potential is combined with cool graphics and musics, or with interesting features let's say, then great. Immortal Romance is the perfect example of such slot as it offers almost anything a gambler might wish.

On the other hand we have the aforementioned Dead or Alive game. Yes, it has awful and outdated graphics, but it is still capable to produce 3000, 4000 and even above 5000 x bet insane wins. And the chance to get some of these hits is significantly better than hitting a 4 or 5 reel Wild Desire for example...

All I'm saying is that I choose a single major value to rate a slot and the rest is just an addition, nothing more. ;)

That 400x bet from the free spins in Fantastic Four is the best thing that happened to me and a few days ago I had a 400xbet win on Count Spectacular but I was on a 0.5 bet per spin so the win was 200 why oh why didn't I play on a higher bet :fool:  So yes the potential win is always my priority. I keep coming back to the games I had big wins in hoping to strike gold again. But only emptiness remains on my balance :cray:

Don't we all, Hajnrih?  :p

Whenever we get a good win from a game, we always want more and expect more from it, which doesn't happen most of the time of course. Only on certain lucky days do we get a few more very nice wins from it, but usually we'll give it all back sooner or later.  :(

The vicious gambling circle.  :p

  • 3 weeks later...

I have a few points I keep on my mind while playing in the casino

  • What software is it? ( If It's a software I use a lot, it's a bonus)
  • The site itself: how long it took to register, how long it took to deposit, how long it took to withdraw, the site overlay and design
  • Games selection slots, keeno, table games, etc.
  • Overall experience that I've had while playing in the casino
  • Casino representative efficiency
  • Undisputed problems and complaints
  • The feel to it
  • Bonuses

And alot of other factors! Sometimes I emphasize only 2 or 3 points that have a huge impact, for example!

Thanks for sharing your ideas, Zeljko. :hi:

Yes, those are indeed good points worth considering whenever writing a casino review. In fact, casino reviews are actually a lot harder to write about, due to so many aspects to be considered. But when there are too many aspects to be considered, picking on the most outstanding ones become crucial. Less aspects become too little. Too many becomes confusing or even chaotic. Knowing how to write a good and concise summary would make a real good read all the time.  ^_^

Well my priority when I join some casino I always check their licence,of course the software and selections of the games ,if they have complaints and how fast are theirs cashouts ,about the bonuses not that much, because I prefer to play only with my money then wager the bonus all day long, well I am talking about the small bonuses, which I never take!

Yes, the casino license, the software, the games selection, existing complaints, speed of payouts, and even bonuses too. Each of this aspect reflects the casino as a whole.

I am with you too my dear, when it comes to bonuses. I hardly take bonuses that are less than 100% because they are just not worth wagering for. I find those 10%, 20%, 30% and even the 50% bonuses as a heavy burden on my bankroll. Better to play without them. No wagering and no restrictions to worry about. Small or big wins can easily and rapidly be withdrawn if and when desired. Hence, bonuses do play a role in reviews and ratings of casinos.  ^_^
