Restricted Countries

We have so many members here, and we all come from a different part of this world!

I seem to be the most under travelled person....in the world....so I'm asking for a little help.

I have never quite understood why certain countries always seem to be restricted from bonuses. I always ask or check to see if the UK are one of those countries...until Valdes made a good point when he said "are UK players ever in the restricted countries list!!!" Nope...I but I never even realised.

So please share with me..which country are you from...and do you find yourself part of that dreaded list?

If so..do you know why?

I'm from Serbia :p

Usually in the same boat with other former Yugoslavian countries or countries nearby, in the same region (Romania, Poland, Bulgaria..).

I think that we are suspicious. Simply that!

Because..all these countries are in some kind of transition, belonging to some funny list called "2nd world countries" - http://www.nationsonline.org/oneworld/second_world.htm

That's the Eastern bloc of the communist-socialist countries.. with rich history (poor is the country who's history is rich), wars, divisions, transitions, bad politicians (MC Luciana :p) ... that history and overs had very bad effects on the economy of these countries, often followed by hyper inflation, stagnation, rapid enrichment of a very small part of the populations, big class differences, mass poverty and above all - unemployment!

That's why, many people had to find any way to survive and feed their families, by doing anything, usually illegal things - smuggling and selling gas, weapon, cigarettes... all on the streets!

Gambling sounds usually as easy money..especially bonuses! I think that many people from these countries are bonus hunters!

And any casino won't be happy to have such a players! That's why they restrict us and prevent themselves from suspicious and blacklisted countries... :)

PS. I saw a few times UK as restricted country..every time I was almost shocked! Who'd and why restrict UK?!

Multi-accounts bonus hunters - the worst species :D

Here's a famous win, from the free spins - http://casinobonusestoday.com/news/largest-progressive-jackpot-megafortune-11736228/

What insane luck!

Yes, I remember that. :D  That was World Record, I think, until one Finn won over 17 millions from Mega Fortune.

:o

Seems that world records has to hold someone from Scandinavia :p

Anyway, today I faced a perfect example of country suspicion! Our dear Katemak, from Macedonia (former Yugoslavian republic), tried to redeem MajorTom's bonus on Avalon II, but had some troubles! When I checked it for her, one of the sentences from the explanation was this:

She was put in a risk pending group because of where she lives

Wow I'm overwhelmed by all the responses, thanks guys, hopefully this thread will come in handy for all those who don't know about country restrictions like me!

Also ...out of interest luciana what do you do in these situations with Katemak? That comment is such a racial one towards her country its crazy how they can get away with saying it...how do you go on to handle such comment? Are there any loop holes in these kinds of cases?

Well, although the above explanations about country based restrictions are true, they are far away from the core of the problem. Actually there might be many reasons for an online casino to impose such restrictions and I will try to list below some of them with a brief explanation.

1) The gambling legislation for the specific country - the brightest example for this rule should be USA and the famous UIGEA(Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act) from 2006, which basically forbid online gambling in USA. Since 2006 more than 2000 online casinos imposed restrictions upon players from within US.

2) Licenses and licensing jurisdictions - each licensing jurisdiction and the issued licenses come with some specific restrictions, see this guide for more info Casino licensing, regulation and certification – are they really so important?

3) Restrictions, connected with the gambling provider/software - often gambling software providers do not accept players, residing in countries where these companies have offices. A typical example is Playtech, which second biggest office is situated in Sofia and therefore 99% of all Playtech powered casinos do not accept players from Bulgaria.

4) Marketing based restrictions - it is not s secret that most NetEnt operators are targeting only a few big markets, like Germany, Scandinavian countries and UK for example and therefore most of their promotions are exclusively for players residing in these countries. A typical example here could be RedBet and its free spins offers. ;)

Of course there are many other reasons for casinos to use so many different restrictions, being it country based, bonus based, wagering based and so on... But it is all based on one and the same thing after all - money and markets. ;)

Yes ... I sometimes get carried away and actually forget that of course it is all down to money. And that is what makes the world go round isn't it!

I think my problem is I have so much fun here...it makes me forget the actual reasons I spin those wheels lol!

First, I check if there's anything I can do..second, if I can, I ask for it..and if I can't - I ask for an exception to be made :D

Always trying to remind people from casinos about some special members we have here and about their benefits!

That's why it's nice and helpful being a regular forum member ;)

Since this thread is about Restricted countries I would like to make a comment specifically for the most part (99%) of Rival casinos, that here on their pages at AskGamblers is specified that they DO accept players from Romania. However since about 2 years ago, almost none of the Rival casinos accept players from my country. Even from the "Create account" page  Romania is not listed. I am telling this since I downloaded many times Rival casinos hoping this time they will accept me, and haven't found one yet to register players from where I am.

First time to hear about it. :o If you are sure Rivals do not accept players from Romania I will add this info to all of their reviews.

I am pretty much sure. Even today I downloaded 4 Rival casinos at random from the lsit of Rival Casinos at AskGamblers. With the exception of Golden Cherry (where I have been previously registered) all other casinos did not allowed me to register even if it was specified on their page that they do accept player from Romania. If you want to know exactly which do and do not accept, look at the list of player countries, when registering a new account. Romania will be situated between Reunion and Russia, but is missing form most of them.
